West Norwood Floor Sanding
This was quite possibly up there with one of the most challenging projects we’ve faced.
Due to the age of the property circa 1800’s, not only were 90% of the floorboards cupped and crowned, the joists were also wavy -which made for very challenging sanding.
We managed to source lots of reclaimed boards for the repairs needed, something to note; if you have floorboards over 2ocm wide, their likely Georgian (and very expensive to replace).
Once the various replacements were fitted, it was time for sanding. For this we had to start on a 36 grit for much of the project, a couple rooms even required diagonal sanding just to level them.
Now the sanding was complete, we finished the floors with a nice matt lacquer which doesn’t alter the colour of the timber too much.
We were certainly glad to get this one over the line however, our clients reactions and positive feedback made it all worth while.
